In this shoot we did something which we hadn't normally been doing. As a class we went on a walk which allowed us to produce many pictures which related heavily to nature. When going on the walk we were provided with a couple of topics and had to take pictures relating to the following. The topics were Back of Head Portraiture, Journey and Autumn Colours. This walk was also very useful as it allowed me keep an eye out for anything which could contribute to any other topics on the course.
I chose to take the photograph below as it relates to more than one topic. It relates to Autumn Colours and very heavily to the topic of lines through the many tree stalks and branches present. These lines are further enhanced by the light background amplifying the shape of the trees. In order to make the piece more effective than how it started off I head to rotate the trunks of the tree to make them vertical. Also I like the fact that light is visible through the trees and bright colours are seen in the distance in contrast to the darker shaded colours in the foreground
This photograph doesn't relate heavily to the topics which we were expected to focus on. However I took this photo to contribute to the earlier topic of reflection which is shown in the reflection of trees in the lake. The reflection itself is slightly distorted as the water is rippled. By altering the curves and colour balance levels I was also able to make the photograph look bright and vibrant, enhancing the blues and greens in the photograph.
Progression:
On the next walk I feel that I should attempt to capture images which relate to the topic of Autumn Colours whilst still keeping my eye out for any availability to add to the previous topics. I would like to focus more on a naturalistic environment of a forest where many elements will relate to autumn colours. For example, there will be many leaves on the floor of a variety of colours which will relate heavily to autumn colours.
