Image Bank - Contrast

The topic of contrast in general is very vast as many things can be categorised into contrast for countless reasons. Contrast can be visible in colour, size, age, movement, time etc. the list is endless. Photography in which contrast features, usually includes things with oppose each other and are opposites. For example, with colour its considered contrast when blacks and whites are seen. The contrasts can either be clearly visible or the photograph(s) can hold a deeper meaning that originally meets the eye.

This photograph is very effective in showing contrast due to the opposing facial expressions. The face on the right is smiling whereas the face on the left looks sad. This contrast is enhanced through the different colour schemes in both sides. The right ice much more vibrant and saturated whereas the left side is more dull and blue.

Here contrast is shown effectively through colour created by the makeup on the subjects face. The top half of the face is black whereas the bottom half is a  much lighter grey. Also the contrast with the dark area and the white eye lashes enhances the shape and line of them.

Here a contrast is shown through the different sizes of the subjects.
