Definition Post - Texture

Dictionary Definition - the feel, appearance, or consistency of a surface or a substance

The photograph has a seemingly smooth surface due to not many tones are visible, this implies that the surface of the object is flat and smooth. However, highlight and shadow areas are used to show the detail of the leaf.
 
This particular surface is given a rather rough texture. This is apparent due to the close up low camera angle as It allows the viewers to see the shadows in the surface. By using this type of close up angle it is easy to depict the texture of the surface
 
In this photograph a specific camera angle has been given with the light source behind them, the many shadow is was defines what texture it has. The many dark lines are the shadow and implies that the surface is rough.
 
This image has a spikey texture which is shown the through the many pointed parts of the object, the highlight and shadow areas also contribute to this. Also the dark background makes the pointed outline of the object to be seen.
