Image Bank - Movement

All of these photos show movement in different ways. Movement can be shown through blurring by lowering the shutter speed and exposure levels of the camera. I specifically like the effect made by lowering the shutter speed in relation in capturing streaks of light. I intend to create a piece that has a similar effect by taking a photograph from the top of a motorway at night. The movement of the of the cars will create streaks of of light, red streaks will be created on the left side on the motorway and white streaks on the right. Movement can also be shown through the recognition of disturbances in materials such as splashes in water.

Here movement is shown through the coloured lines/beams which show the movement of the lights. This photograph is taken on long exposures which allows the beams to form and therefore show the direction of movement. The light beams are very visible through the background being black and therefore amplifies them.

This photograph shows movement due to the 5 different images merged into one. Each of the 5 photographs show the different stages of the subjects movement and in this case, throwing the ball up in order to serve it (Tennis). It shows the movement of the arm and the direction in which the ball is travelling in.

These last two photographs are also very effective in illustrating movement but  in these cases they show what the movement has caused. The positions of the sand and water show how the movement of the subject has caused them to change shape and structure. Also the poses which the subjects are making also correspond to the shapes of the sand/water and make it clear to what movement is taking place and the direction it is occurring in.
