All of these photos are very effective in showing the formal element of texture as
they all imply the consistencies of the range of surfaces. They are all taken close up to show the appearance of the surface. The texture can be made more visible due to the positioning of the camera and the light. By positioning the light source and camera successfully, shadows can be formed and result in the texture of the surface appearance more distinct.
Here the texture of the rope is conveyed through the horizontal lines which represent each string in the rope. Also as a whole the surface seems lumpy due to the way the rope is weaved together.
Here the texture is illustrated through the many thin lines which vary in length in order to show the consistency of the wood. These lines are very dark and show the detail and grains in the surface. These sharp and wavy lines imply the rough texture.
