Image Bank - Lines

Image Bank

All of these photos demonstrate how interesting lines are. They come in a range of forms which are all in their own way very effective, almost everything in the world is made up of lines which allows us to recognise the different types and compositions. Lines can add immense detail and also separate different materials which is visible through the pictures below.

Here Lines are very effective in showing depth. The lines are all parallel to each other and as they get further away they seem to be getting closer together. All the lines in this piece are converging to the centre of the composition towards a very light area.

In this image the lines are very effective in showing the cracks in the floor, showing the different shapes of the different segments of the mud. Some of the lines are much thinker than others, which emphasises the gaps between the different segments. Smaller and thinner lines show detail and much more prudent cracks

In this picture of a zebra the lines are very successful in showing the form and shape of the head and body of the subject. This adds detail and pattern to the appearance of the animal and also lines are used to convey the mane on the neck and head of the figure.

The lines in this piece are dry effective in showing the direction of movement of the fireworks. The lines trail red circled heads and there show the direction in which the firework is travelling in. These lines are very visible due to the contrast with the dark background.
